Solar Control Film, Professionally Applied by Our Window Tinting Experts, is the Answer!

Tinted windows can give you that wonderful sense of spaciousness, sunlit views and the ability to keep an eye on what’s going on, but without the risks associated with harsh UV Rays. You can also privatise your inner living areas so that you and your family can enjoy time together without feeling your day-to-day interactions with each other are on display to nearby neighbours or passers-by.

In an era where multi-storey apartment living is gaining momentum, and floor-to-ceiling glass is an architect’s choice to maximise light, views and aesthetic design, home owners are also increasingly being exposed to heightened environmental risk-factors, such as excessive heat, glare and cancer-causing Ultra Violet Light.

The Benefits of Home or Residential Window Tinting Can Include:

  • High – Efficiency Heat Rejection – Heat Reduction known as Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) can be achieved at a rate of up to 90%
  • Energy Consumption Savings – tinting can induce cooler conditions by up to 30%

  • Reduced Glare – from sun, traffic headlights, street lights and/or other close-by apartment lighting or spotlights

  • U.V. Protection – a good quality tint film can provide more than a 99% UV Reduction score

  • Minimisation of Glass Shatter and associated injuries due to glass surface breakages

  • Enhanced Daytime Privacy – from neighbours, from other rooms in the house, or from condensed housing situations where you can literally and visually live in one another’s pockets (such as over-shadowing issues). Please note that night lighting nullifies tint privacy screening properties.

  • Lowered Potential for Skin Damage – due to solar exposure whilst in your home, and

  • The Potential for a Higher ROI at Resale Time – due to added street appeal, fashion-forward value, and more desirable energy-efficiency ratings.

You can Expect:

  • Transparency – on pricing for the job, how many years of experience your window tint installer has, and how long you can expect the curing process to take.  Each housing type, window shape, and quote request will vary, but you’ll be treated with courtesy, complete honesty and respect at every step of the way.

  • Information – on what types and sizes of film are available and how prices are scaled according to the level of protection, depth of tint colour, and the actual film’s performance.  It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.  With us, you’ll be encouraged to ask as many questions as you wish, explore the available options and know that your works will be compliant, suited to your circumstances, and give you lasting protection.

  • Job Satisfaction Guarantees – including quality installation, insurance coverage for all works specified, clear information on where our proven, high-quality window tinting films have been manufactured, and the knowledge that you will enjoy honest communication about the perils of avoiding cheap products (i.e. films that will cause disappointing and very sub-standard results) and poor workmanship. Our members will also provide Warranty support.

  • Further Supportive Care Information – such as:

    1. Cleaning your windows should be avoided for approximately three weeks to allow for proper adhesive curing to take place.
    2. Cleaning should only be done with a Soft or Microfiber cloth, using only water, a mild detergent or an ammonia-free window cleaner solution. You should never use a scourer, brush or abrasive equipment.
    3. Advice on how minor water bubbles are an initial expectation of the curing process. They will disappear after a short time.

Please Note: Not all window tint films are dark in colour, either.  Ask us to explain the excellent heat rejection properties of ‘Smart Films’ – they’re lightweight and hard to see with the naked eye.

Residential Tinting FAQs

There are hundreds of different films available to tint your home.  Some contributing factors are access, film type, glass type and frame construction.  All these have a impact on the rate.  A good quality, mainstream window film with a Lifetime warranty installed by a Tinting Australia professional on a standard 4 pane residential window would likely attract a rate of $250 – $300.

The curing process can take up to 3 months and greatly depends on the exposure to the sun and the climate.  It will cure more quickly in the warmer months and take longer in the cooler months.

We ask that you do not clean the windows within 4 weeks of installation.

In short No! Window film technology has come a very long way since 1966 and the new Ceramic and IR films offer exceptional efficiency in neutral tones.

We suggest a soft cloth or Microfiber cloth and and Ammonia Free window cleaner or mild detergent. Do not use scourers, brushes or anything abrasive as it might scratch the film.

Most window film is installed on the inside, however there is specific film designed for outside installation.  This is used for difficult access or specific glass types.  It costs more and has a shorter lifespan.

In the unlikely event that you have a warranty issue, simply contact the original installer on the warranty form who will address any concerns you might have.

This is totally normal. As the window film cures the moisture condenses in ares of least pressure. These small bubbles will disappear as the adhesive cures.

Not at all! Many modern window films are known as “Smart Films”. These films are very light, almost impossible to detect with the eye and have excellent heat rejection properties.

The most common size rolls are 60 inches wide x 100 feet long. Window film was originally an american design and is still measured in feet and inches. Converted metrically its 1524 mm wide, by 30.4 metres long. This size covers almost all windows and doors.  On the odd occasion we find very large windows that exceed this width and there some films available in a 72″ or 1830 mm wide. If your glass exceeds 1830 mm in both height and width you will require a join in the film.
